Good luck to Claire, Belinda & Jane from Drive Fitness who will be taking on a team 100km ultra marathon to raise money for a great cause next weekend. Thank you to Belinda for sharing more about the event and how to support here...

On August 24th 37 Team Hummingbird runners who believe in the importance of Hummingbird House and its charity Queensland Kids will join together in teams to conquer a 100k ultra marathon course. We will have 4 teams and will cover 565klms between us. Jane Wardle, Claire Benham and Belinda Sutherland from Drive Fitness will be part of Team 4.

Queensland Kids was established for the purpose of providing charitable services for the relief of sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness of people. The first project of Queensland Kids is Hummingbird “With Australia’s population of 23 million there are only 2 children’s hospices nationally and none of them are in Queensland.  It is estimated that 3700 Queensland children are affected by a life-limiting condition. They deserve the option of accessing respite and hospice care in a special place like Hummingbird House.  We need your help to build Queensland’s only children’s hospice. Queensland Kids has identified the critical need to provide care for children with life limiting conditions and their families – a home away from home option that gives families the added flexibility to access respite and hospice care when home or hospital care can no longer meet their needs.
