Do you feel your motivation slowly slipping as the days get shorter & the weather gets cooler?  You're certainly not alone. Training in Winter can be hard but don't let it stop you! Here are 5 practical tips to help you stay motivated to train during Winter....

1. Get The Right Gear

If you're not wearing the right training gear for the colder weather you're just making it hard for yourself. Wear warm training clothes on top of your regular gear and keep it on for the first 5-10 minutes of your workout. If you try to face the cold in your regular Summer attire you're unlikely to ever make it out the door.

2. Train For An Event

Register for a fun run, adventure race or any fitness event with a date towards the middle or end of Winter. The event slowly creeping closer will help keep you accountable to your training sessions regardless of the weather conditions. Nothing motivates quite like the pressure of an upcoming event or challenge.

3. Get A Training Partner

Train with a friend or group and hold each other accountable to every training session no matter how cold or dark it is. On the days you don't feel like exercising your training partner will and on the days your training partner is lacking motivation you'll be there to help them.

4. Focus On Summer

Winter is a chance to get a head start on your Summer goals, they say Summer bodies are made in Winter. Stay focused on what you want to have achieved by Summer and use this as motivation to keep training through the colder months.

5. Enjoy It While it Lasts

Embrace the cold weather and enjoy it while it's here - it doesn't last very long anyway! Remember, it wasn't that long ago you were complaining about how it was too hot to train and now you're letting the cold stop you. That cooler weather you prayed for in the middle of Summer is here, enjoy it!
