I joined Drive Fitness 2 years ago because as a working mum with two children and a very busy job I was struggling to carve out time to do exercise. I am now fit enough to comfortably do 6 x 1 hour exercise sessions per week and I find this invaluable for my mental health and to stay on top of the stress of my work and family commitments. There has never been a day when I have not wanted to go to training.

Please tell us about your results: I joined Drive Fitness 2 years ago because as a working mum with two children and a very busy job I was struggling to carve out time to do exercise. In my mind I imagined that to achieve this I would need a female trainer of similar age who would understand my situation. However in my trainer, Mike, who is half my age (and not female) I've found someone who is extremely supportive, finds ways around a range of age-related injuries, is flexible around my work schedule and doesn't stint on pushing me to my limits. Thanks to Mike, I am now fit enough to comfortably do 6 x 1 hour exercise sessions per week and I find this invaluable for my mental health and to stay on top of the stress of my work and family commitments. There has never been a day when I have not wanted to go to training. I still have work to do to meet all my health goals but am confident Mike will help me get there.

Please tell us how your trainer helped you achieve your results: My trainer Mike leads by example and is a great inspiration. If he ever has a bad day you wouldn't know about it. Mike is unfailingly good-humoured and deals with setbacks in a positive and constructive way. He always brings his best self to a training session and focusses on motivating his clients and training groups. Mike is very good at knowing how hard to push you so you will try new things and can exceed your own expectations. When I first started with Drive Fitness Mike suggested I try boot camps. I told him I had absolutely no interest in boot camps. Not only didn’t I feel fit enough to subject myself to, what I assumed would be, public humiliation, I also felt I wouldn’t fit in as I imagined the boot camp crowd would be considerably younger and fitter. I have found the boot camp crowd is generally a bit younger but not so much fitter and there has been no public humiliation. I enjoy the opportunity to get outside and get some fresh air and socialise with a fun and supportive group and now try to do three bootcamps a week.

Please tell us how achieving your results makes you feel: I’m proud that I have achieved my goal of incorporating daily exercise into my busy schedule and find that it has significantly helped me cope with the exertion and stress of my busy work and home life. Before I joined Drive Fitness I was struggling with the demands on my time and always feeling tired and stress. Now I feel confident that even if I have a lot to do that I can cope and I approach each day with energy and a fresh mental approach.

Please tell us about your training highlights: Drive Fitness has a varied program that often incorporates challenges to keep everyone on their toes. Some highlights of my training program have been regularly improving my personal bests on different equipment, gradually increasing the time at which I can maintain high intensity in my training, being able to do proper push-ups and even close on the leaderboard with some of the younger crew.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?: I think Dave Eggins has built a great client-focussed fitness business that carefully selects its trainers to be truly responsive to client needs. I feel very fortunate to have a trainer like Mike, who has made such a positive impact on my life. I've been very happy with Drive Fitness, it gives me not just a supportive trainer but also a supportive community. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone interested in improving their health.

“Last year was a massive achievement of reaching my weight loss goal of 43kg. It was 2 years in the making, it was a lot of hard work, a lifestyle change and ramping up my training at Drive Fitness. I also competed in 3 Drive Fitness events last year; the bench press comp, the dead lift comp and the end of year big boot camp - these 3 events were things that I would never had done in the past.”* - Mel

“During the 10 week challenge this year, I dropped a further 2 dress sizes, shed 4.8kg of fat and gained 400g of muscle. I would highly recommend the 10 week challenge as a program to transform your health, retrain your habits and learn to make better lifestyle choices."* - Robyn
