Join me for a complimentary Turkish Get Up Technique Workshop on Saturday 25 February at 6:30am-7:30am for anyone wanting to learn the Turkish Get Up for the first time or improve their Turkish Get up technique. The session is limited to 8 people.

What’s Involved?

  • A break down of the Turkish Get up movement into easy to understand & follow steps

  • Working through repetitions of each step of the Turkish Get Up followed by bringing the complete movement together for repetition with weight if appropriate

  • Individualised technique coaching to help you through any parts of the movement where you’re specifically having trouble

  • Identification of any mobility or strength areas you need to work on to overcome technique issues or to progress weight

Why Turkish Get Up?

  • Shoulder stability & mobility: The Turkish Get Up requires holding a free weight (kettlebell usually) directly above the shoulder throughout the entirety of the movement. As the body position changes from supine to standing and everything inbetween the shoulder is required to adjust and stabilise to ensure the kettlebell remains aligned correctly  helping to develop both shoulder mobility & stability.

  • Core strength: The Turkish Get Up develops core strength by engaging the muscles of the abdominals and back as the body moves from lying to kneeling and to standing and then returning to the starting position. Core strength is important for support and protection of your spine particularly during movement.

  • Posture: The Turkish Get Up activates muscles in the hips, lower, mid and upper back & shoulders all of which help to improve posture. Throughout the movement these muscles all work together, not in isolation, to help develop dynamic postural control in different positions.

  • All Body Strength: The Turkish Get Up is an all body exercise recruiting the muscles of the lower body, upper body and core. This makes it great as a stand alone all body workout or as part of an upper body or lower body strength session.

Schedule:

  • Saturday 25 February 6:30-7:30am @ Drive Fitness Tarragindi (5/19 Kuring Gai Ave, Tarragindi)
