Team Duathlon (Row & Bike) 2019 - The Road To 20 Years

For this entry in the Road to 20 Years series we’re looking back at an event that has made a one and only appearance on the Drive Fitness calendar - the Team RowErg & BikeERG Duathlon. Held on a Friday night, 10 May 2019, teams of 4 - two men and two women - raced through a 2000m BikeErg immediately followed by a 1000m RowErg with each team member completing 250m row and 500m bike in relay format.

250m on the rowERG and a 500m on the bikeERG doesn’t sound like it should be too hard but for those that participated I’m sure you can recall that when done at 100% with very little rest in between it’s very tough! This was especially the case for the 4 fastest teams who backed up to race a second time in the finals!

Like with all Drive Fitness events it wasn’t just about posting the fastest time or winning. Plenty of people got involved to give it a go and have fun while others just attended to spectate the trainers race at the end. This event was one of the busiest we have ever seen the Drive Fitness Tarragindi studio.

Looking back at the Team Duathlon reminds us of just how many things we’ve tried over the last almost 20 years. Some events become annual traditions like the Bench Press Challenge, 4 Week Workout Series and Bridge to Brisbane while others like this one happened just the once. Despite being a one and only, for the people that were there I’m sure this is a memorable part of their time at Drive Fitness like it is for me.

Drive Fitness is on the road to 20 years!

As we approach this milestone, we'll be taking a look back at some of the moments we've shared with our community that paved the way and shaped who we are today.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey with us. We look forward to revisiting these memories with you.

PAST ENTRIES IN THE ROAD TO 20 YEARS

Tough Mudder 2013 - The Road To 20 Years

The inaugural Tough Mudder QLD event took place in August 2013 on the Sunshine Coast and the Drive Fitness team was there! This was our first ever obstacle course together - but it wouldn't be our last!

5th Workout Final 2016 - The Road To 20 Years

in July 2016, during the 2nd Annual 4 Week Workout Series we introduced a one-off format change that remains a one-and-only in Drive Fitness history, an unexpected 5th workout final.

The First Ever Drive Fitness Event: The 2008 Bench Press Challenge - The Road to 20 Years

Not long after starting Drive Fitness in 2007 we began thinking about ways to bring our clients together outside of their regular training sessions. At the time we had fewer than 20 clients, but we were enthusiastic about building a community centred around health, fitness and supporting each other.

Bridge to Brisbane 2013 - The Road To 20 Years

On Sunday 1 September 2013, almost 13 years ago, Drive Fitness entered a team in the Bridge to Brisbane 10km event. It wasn't our first Bridge to Brisbane - we'd been entering a Drive Fitness team every year since 2009, but there were a few things about the 2013 event that made it particularly memorable.
